Happy Thanksgiving

Chers Amis,

I have so many things to be thankful for this holiday season, so many people that deserve a special word of gratitude, and so many suitcases to be squeeezed - I mean - carefully loaded into the aging minivan. I promise I will write a proper post on my many blessings, until then, consider yourselves hugged, eat well and thank our Heavenly Father for all his gifts. As St. Therese the Little Flower so aptly said, "Tout est grace." Everything is a grace, a gift: the turkey and stuffing, the warmth of the central heat, the dry roads, the explosive laughter from the children's table, the creaking joints, the dirty platters and pie plates, the commaraderie of shared dishwashing and drying in the kitchen, the seemingly endless hours of college football, the lack of internet access, Uncle Fred's favorite story retold yet again, the empty chair, the trip to the cemetary, the snuggle with the newest tiny cousin, the price of gasoline, and the tears of greeting and departure. Let us be thankful and appreciative for it all. Have a wonderful, delicious holiday!
